HEADS UP PARENTS

Many kids are at risk of a ‘super head lice epidemic’. Experts say that head lice have evolved to become more resistant to popular over-the-counter treatments. These pesky bugs are common and particularly prey on primary school kids aged six to nine.

It seems the most commonly used head lice deterrents are not as effective and over a period of time these SUPER BUGS have built an immunity.
Recent research has shown that 98% of head lice are now resistant to common treatments.

Below are some simple and helpful tips to help prevent an outbreak:

  • Always be prepared with the essentials at home – a large bottle of Tea Tree conditioner and a nit comb – seem to do the trick.
  • Regularly check your children for any signs of headlice.
  • If you spot signs of lice immediate action is necessary; lubricate the hair generously with conditioner and comb all the hair from root to tip, depending on the hair length and type this process can take up to 45 minutes.
  • Check all members of the household to make sure they haven’t spread.
  • This process should be repeated two or three times in the first few weeks.
